Recent warm up experiments in pattern first with paint on paper and then with slip on bats.

"Art is Pattern informed by sensibility" Herbert Read

"you should not create pattern from pattern." Tomimoto Kenkichi

I found the quote from Tomimoto Kenkichi interesting. I always felt that his patterns were mesmerizing, a combination of natural marks and geometric pattern/order. But I don't quite know how to interpret the quote. I'll have to think on it a while. Your doodles look fun. I like to do the same while "sketching" with slip trailing patterns. Then I erase with a sponge and start over. Sometimes I'll take pictures to help me remember patterns that are interesting.
slip and finger marks no better combination :))
